Plymouth Hospitals Charity has been quietly and efficiently supporting Plymouth NHS Trust for over ten years. In 2025, the charity embarked on a transformative journey to raise its profile and deepen engagement with the community. Alongside the decision to open a new, more visible Charity Hub at Derriford Hospital, strategically located near the main entrance for maximum accessibility. We were commissioned to develop a contemporary and emotive brand identity that would resonate with the people of Plymouth.
Bring the charities work to life
Working closely with the charity team, we created an identity designed to tell the stories of the NHS in a heartwarming and engaging way. It highlights patient experiences, staff contributions, and community involvement, creating content that is both touching and occasionally humorous. By connecting with people on a personal level, the brand strengthens the relationship between the charity and the wider Plymouth community.

Creating the identity
The distinctive visual identity breaks convention and challenges traditional charity branding norms. A visual language combining dynamic graphic assets, a warm colour palette, welcoming typography, and real-life photography ensures the charity can communicate consistently across campaigns, digital channels, and printed materials.
Strengthening community connections
Since launch, the Charity Hub has become a focal point for engagement and fundraising. The vibrant space, complemented by a bold signage system, serves as a highly visible centre for showcasing the charity’s initiatives and connecting with patients, visitors, and staff.
Visitors are drawn to the welcoming hub to learn about the charity’s work, make donations, and see the real impact of their support. With significant regional media coverage, the refreshed brand and hub have already enhanced visibility, strengthened community connection, and positioned Plymouth Hospitals Charity for continued growth and engagement.
