Old Town
Square
Old Town Square is a vibrant new public space in the heart of Plymouth, transformed from a tired shopping parade into a dynamic venue for live music, events, and community gatherings. As part of the wider regeneration of Old Town Street and New George Street, the square has been fully pedestrianised and redesigned with modern landscaping, improved lighting, and flexible performance areas to host a wide variety of cultural activities.
Square to life
We worked closely with both Plymouth City Centre Company and Drake Circus to create a versatile identity that reflects both the entertainment and the geography of Old Town Square. The brand is designed to be flexible and recognisable, helping the space connect with diverse audiences and adapt to a wide range of uses.
"Old Town Square has been completely transformed into a vibrant space for our city. The new identity perfectly captures its energy and versatility. The space is now alive with events, markets, and music, and it’s become a true focal point for Plymouth’s cultural life."
A versatile identity toolkit
The distinctive visual identity brings together a strong logomark and logotype, supported by a vibrant colour palette, contemporary typography, graphic assets, and real-life photography. This toolkit ensures the square can communicate consistently across campaigns, street dressing, digital channels, and printed materials, whether promoting live events, community markets, or cultural festivals.
Bringing Old Town Square to life
Since reopening, Old Town Square has quickly become a cultural focal point for Plymouth. Hosting regular performances, markets, and community events, it has attracted both locals and visitors while enhancing the city’s cultural life. The revitalised space not only adds energy to the city centre but also strengthens the wider regeneration efforts, fostering a renewed sense of community and place.
