RIO is leading a partnership consisting of a number of high profile organisations which have joined forces in a pioneering project to regenerate the historic Devonport Market hall into a new space for digital. There will be a ‘hatchery’ for new digital and gaming firms, a testing ground for established companies, event and conference space and a unique visitor attraction. To raise awareness of this exciting and imminent new development, RIO asked us to develop an interim brand identity to help drive awareness of the Market Hall.

The Market Hall will be a tourist attraction for the whole of the city and it will mean something different to every stakeholder. This is how the resulting positioning; MAKE IT YOURS was born. We then created a set of taglines to reinforce the positioning and form a robust messaging framework for each audience.
From there, our work led to the creation of the identity. Restrained yet playful the Market Hall mark was inspired by the distinctive architecture within the Grade II listed building. It is contemporary and versatile adapting to the media channels it occupies. A number of other digital and printed brand touch-points are planned and we're confident this interim solution serves RIO and its partners well.
Since the branding of the Market Hall interest in the development continues to grow. The exciting project goes from strength to strength continuing to be true to its positioning engaging with the local community on all levels.
